Bendery, 22 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. All delegations have come today to an emergency meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), which has turned out impossible to begin due to the Moldovan delegation’s reluctance.
Yesterday, the Pridnestrovian side initiated an emergency meeting of the JCC in connection with violations of the country's airspace by foreign aircraft.
However, a dialogue on «flights over the Security Zone» did take place, but in a form of a conference.
«Nevertheless, we've had a rather long discussion of this issue. Important aspects have been raised. We realise that aircraft can penetrate into the Security Zone, but neither the JCC nor the JMC has any real leverage today. In 1992−93 there was a procedure pursuant to which every air penetration into the Security Zone was reported to the military command which determined an aircraft's type, its goals and after that made a decision whether to allow flights or not. There was Russia's helicopter squadron which could be launched at the order of the JCC and the JMC and settle any questions," said Pridnestrovie's co-chair to the JCC, Oleg Belyakov.
The head of the delegation has underscored that this issue remains open and requires further consideration by the JCC. «The Pridnestrovian delegation will insist on further considering this issue," concluded Oleg Belyakov.
