Bendery, 17 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A regular meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) took place in Bendery. The sides continued to discuss freedom of movement in the Security Zone. As the Pidnestrovian co-chair to the JCC, Oleg Belyakov, said in an interview with journalists, the committee had agreed on three provisions of a draft project and would continue working on its final version. The presence of the Moldovan co-chair gave certain impetus to the negotiations.
«We can see that last week's situation has not recurred. Today we have seen a real dialogue, a real desire to find contact points, and solve the problem and, what is more, incidents in the Security Zone have been evaluated. The sides have exchanged their reports on the incidents that happened in Dubossary, Varnitsa and Slobodzeya in the past month when Moldovan criminal police detained three Pridnestrovian citizens without coordinating their actions with Pridnestrovian law enforcers. All these facts have been reported today. The Pridnestrovian delegation has stated its position on the conduct of the Moldovan delegation in the absence of the Moldovan co-chair, who did not attend JCC meetings for over six months," said Oleg Belyakov.
The head of the Pridnestrovian delegation focused on the peacekeepers fulfilling their main duties to maintain peace and stability in the region.
«The situation in the Security Zone is still stable and under control. There are no signs of military preparations. We do not allow any serious complication to deteriorate relations between the sides," concluded Oleg Belyakov.
