The unveiling of a memorial plaque in memory of Vladislav Sokolov, who made a significant contribution to the development of the university and the republic's educational system, took place at Pridnestrovian State University named after Taras Shevchenko.
He headed PSU from April 2022 until his death on September 9, 2025. The university underwent a large-scale reconstruction under leadership of Vladislav Vladimirovich: academic buildings and dormitories were renovated, the facilities and equipment were modernized, the infrastructure was improved, and the grounds were landscaped. More comfortable and modern conditions for the study and research of students and faculty were created. These transformations strengthened the university's status as a leading educational center in the republic. Vladislav Sokolov actively developed the university's international relations, strengthening its position in the educational space.
The memorial plaque is installed on the facade of the state university's main building. Vladislav Vladimirovich's family, the republic's leadership, colleagues, faculty, students, and graduates attended the opening ceremony. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky arrived to honor the rector's memory.
Addressing the participants of the memorial event, the President noted that Vladislav Sokolov left a significant mark on the country's history, and everyone who knew him cherishes fond and warm memories. The President emphasized that Vladislav Vladimirovich's life was closely linked to the republic's educational and law enforcement systems. Vladislav Sokolov headed the Tiraspol Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs from 2003 to 2009. As a militia lieutenant colonel, he had a keen understanding of the principles of organization, management, and discipline. According to the President, Vladislav Sokolov was a competent, goal-oriented, responsible, and reliable person who could be trusted with any task. He always accomplished his tasks without the need for undue supervision, demonstrating initiative and a high level of professionalism. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that he had no doubt in Vladislav Sokolov's success when the decision was made to transfer him to PSU. The professional skills and management experience he acquired, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, were put to good use at the university and yielded tangible results. The President emphasized that Vladislav Vladimirovich remained a strong and courageous man despite his serious illness, continuing to work and serve the cause to which he dedicated his life until his last day. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed confidence, concluding his speech that the projects initiated by Vladislav Sokolov will be continued, and his ideas and principles will be realized at Pridnestrovian State University.
Vladislav Sokolov is remembered as a talented scientist, teacher, mentor, and organizer. His hard work, professionalism, and integrity will forever remain an example for his colleagues and students, who today laid flowers at the memorial plaque in his memory.
