Tiraspol, December 20. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The European Sambo Championship among cadets - athletes under 17 years old was held in Cyprus, in the city of Limassol. Teams from 18 countries took part in it, half of them were teams from post-Soviet countries, Radio 1 reports.
Two Pridnestrovians played for the national team of Moldova. Egor Nechiporuk from Tiraspol (weight category up to 88 kg, 10 participants) defeated Ivan Emelianenko, a representative of the strong Russian school Sambo-70, in the opening fight, but then lost to the future winner, Ukrainian Alexey Boldyrev. In the fight for bronze, an athlete from Tiraspol confidently wrestled the Lithuanian sambo wrestler and won the bronze medal. The athlete's coach is his father, Sergey Nechiporuk.
Artem Komendantov from Bendery (category over 88 kg, 7 participants) lost in the first fight to a Ukrainian and was out of the fight.
In the medal round, there are teams of Russia (10 gold) and Ukraine (6 gold) by a large margin. Next, come the teams of Bulgaria and Georgia.
