Bendery, March 29. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A design project for the improvement of the central part of the city was presented in Bendery. They are talking about Lenin Street, which connects the main public spaces. The architectural and space planning for a large-scale reconstruction was developed by the Bendery State Administration of on behalf of the PMR President.
During the project presentation, the Head of the Bendery State Administration, Roman Ivanchenko, noted that the common task was to make Bendery more comfortable and cozy.
“In the project implementation, it is important to understand what we give priority to. Pedestrians will come first, then cyclists, followed by motorists. This is all modern cities` practice,” the Head of Bendery stressed.
Andrey Diordiev, Deputy Head of the Bendery State Administration for Architecture and Urban Development, spoke about the plans for urban regeneration.
“First of all, we have identified a concept, which includes a common understanding of what functional zones are in the city, how to combine them, what accents to make. The central Lenin Street was chosen, taking into account the object identified as primary for reconstruction this year," Andrey Diordiev said.
He said that the project focused on three issues. The first is the road network organization. The worn-out sidewalks will be replaced with tiles, parking lots and pedestrian crossings will be arranged during this stage. The road surface will be partially replaced and the underground networks will be repaired.
Further, according to the project, they will be engaged in the arrangement of the functional area of the square near the P. Tkachenko Palace of Culture. It will be complemented by a pedestrian fountain and a quiet recreational area. Here they also plan to arrange stage platforms.
Within the framework of the third stage, the organization of public space on the Osvobozhdeniye Square will be affected. There will be two functional areas: one for quiet relaxation, and the second for the exposition square. The key idea of the latter is the possibility of holding public exhibitions. Such an area, which will be constantly updated, will become a place of attraction, Andrey Diordiev noted.
"Reconstruction provides a comprehensive solution: here is street and sidewalk surfaces replacement, lighting and landscaping organization," the Deputy Head for Architecture and Urban Development said.
During the project presentation, it was noted that there will be no wires hanging on the poles for lighting, they are planned to be laid underground. Also, they will carry out work to improve the electronic safety system in the center.
According to the Head of Bendery, the square in front of the Black Fence and the Parovoz railway museum will also get organized. The territories along the buildings will be improved at the following addresses: Lenin Street 12, 22 and 25, Shestakova Street 41, as well as the territory in front of the Pharmacy No. 143.
The program for the improvement of the central part of Bendery will also include the renovation of several squares: Leninsky Komsomol, the 10th Anniversary of the Bendery MDI, Stalin's Order, as well as the square with a fountain and a monument to Pavel Tkachenko. A bicycle and pedestrian trail will appear in Oktyabrsky Park in the direction from the embankment lower terrace to the city beach.
The project is planned to be implemented during this year. The work will be funded from several sources: among them the Capital Investment Fund, the Road Fund, as well as enterprises` investment programs and others.
“We tried to bring all available sources of funding together in order to carry out the work centrally. I think that we will be able to implement all this globally,” Roman Ivanchenko noted.
The project itself, according to Andrey Diordiev, is a ready-made architectural concept, yet it has not been finally approved so that everyone can offer their ideas for the city center improvement so far. The proposals are accepted by the Bendery State Administration.
