Tiraspol, May 21./Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Neuropathologist Andrei Kroitor is on the mend. Recently, he could make a breath on his own without the help of ventilator. Both his results of coronavirus control tests were negative.
The doctor fell ill in early April. He was hospitalized in a critical condition, and in mid-April his condition deteriorated. He spent almost a month in a coma, breathing with the help of an iron lung. The Ministry of Health and the Operational Headquarters consider his recovery to be a miracle.
''Indeed, this is a unique case for our republic. The patient went into a coma, he was connected to an iron lung for a long time. To date, he is in a moderate condition, he has been transferred to the Republican Hospital of Disabled Persons of the Great Patriotic War. He can breathe and even stand on his own. For us it is a victory, a great achievement,'' - Minister of Health Christina Albul said at a briefing.
''We have waited for this moment for a very long time. Everyone was monitoring his condition, his treatment. Doctors say he's very lucky. I think Andrei Andreevich will remember his second birth,'' - the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs quotes the Head of the Operational Headquarters Ruslan Mova.
Recall: On March 17, in connection with the coronavirus pandemic the state of emergency was introduced in Pridnestrovie. It will last until June 1.
As of May 21, in Pridnestrovie 833 cases of infection were detected. 34 people died from complications caused by a new type of coronavirus, 430 patients were cured.
