New Co-Chair of the JCC from Russia is appointed

The governing body of the peacekeeping operation approved Andrei Gorobtsov, Adviser to the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Moldova

Bendery, November 14. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. During the next session of the United Control Commission, the new head of the Russian delegation was confirmed. It is the Adviser of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Moldova Andrei Gorobtsov.

Gorobtsov changed Ilya Uvarov, who had headed the Russian delegation since September 2017. Today, the new Co-Chair took up his duties.

Military observers from the Russian Federation and Moldova were also approved during the meeting.

The parties discussed the situation in the Safety Zone over the past 2 weeks.

“The parties have conducted an analysis of the situation in the Safety Zone over the past 2 weeks. It was found to be under the control of the Joint Peacekeeping Force. They assessed that the situation was manageable and controlled. During this period, large quantities of weapons and ammunition were seized, including 21 artillery shells, two mines, one grenade and ammunition. All this is reflected in the reports of military observers”, Oleg Belyakov, Co-Chairman of the JCC from Pridnestrovie told.

He reported that as of 21 November, the JCC had scheduled a joint visit to peacekeeping posts to verify their readiness to serve in winter. Monitoring will be carried out on the Southern section of the Safety Zone.
