Tiraspol, October 30. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A new temple in the name of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian church appeared in the capital. A timber blocking was built on Fedko Street close to place where people were shot and buried in the common grave of political repressions victims in the 1930s. The consecration of the temple and the first liturgy were timed to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression.

“This is the first temple in Pridnestrovie dedicated to the events recalled today. The date itself is celebrated on the first Sunday of February, when the Russian Orthodox Church recalls all those who gave their lives and souls in godless years of hopelessness. It`s a pleasure to have the temple being in operation and bearing its spiritual fruits in memory of those who were once just as innocently tortured here,” the Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Savva noted.

The temple is made in the form of a timber blocking. Material for it was selected in Western Ukraine, where there are suitable species of trees. There, for the first time, it was assembled according to the drawings, and only then parts of the structure were brought to Pridnestrovie and a temple was built. This church is also called Cossack, and it was the military chieftain of the Black Sea Cossack army who proposed to build it this way.

“In those days, the Cossack churches were all wooden, because they were considered marching. Cossacks, moving from place to place, dismantled their church and took it with them, reassembling it in a new place. Thus, their church had always been with them. The place is very significant - the reburial of the innocently killed. I think that by visiting the graves of those who were repressed or undeservedly died, people will remember them,” Ataman of the Black Sea Cossack Army. Igor Nebeigolova said.

Today, there was served the first divine liturgy in the temple. Over time, a belfry will appear here.
