Bronze on the European Table Tennis Championships

Para tennis player Dmitri Lavrov won the second medal during his career

Tiraspol, September 21. /Novosti Pridnestrovia/. The European Table Tennis Championships among sportsmen with orthopedic injury finished today in Helsinki, Sweden.

The 11 medals were given in women and men sport categories. The first five categories were the sportsmen on wheelchair.

The representative of Russian team Dmitri Lavrov competed in the First sport category. There were 10 sportsmen from Finland, Great Britain, Hungry, Italy and Switzerland. They got invitations on the Championship by results of qualifying round. Five of them are in World Top-10.

In the group stage Pridnestrovian sportsman lost out to the European top list Englishman Robert Davis – 0:3 and won in the game with Italian Federico Falko – 3:2. The victory helped him to continue the competition in the next round.

In ¼ final Dmitri Lavrov out gamed Thomas Matius from Great Britain with the score 3:1.

Besides Pridnestrovian lost out in the first set. In semi-final his competitor was repeated winner international tournaments Andrey Major from Hungry. In equal competition lost out and won the bronze medal.

For the Disable persons sport club leader Dmitrii Lavrov this was the second medal on the continental championship and the forth one on international competition in this season. The successful game on the European Table Tennis Championships will help him to move up on the rating-list. This one can increase the chances to get Olympic license.
