Military parade dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War was held in Tiraspol Square named after the Great Russian commander Suvorov. The participants are servicemen of the Pridnestrovian Armed Forces, units of the Operational Group of Russian Forces in Pridnestrovie, soldiers of the Border Department of the Ministry of State Security, parade calculations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and cadets of the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense, as well as students of the Republican cadet corps and the Tiraspol Suvorov Military School. The guests of honor are veterans and home front workers. The Minister of Defense Major-General Oleg Obruchkov took the parade, commanded by the Chief of the General Staff of the Pridnestrovian Army Sergey Gerasyutenko. The state flags of Pridnestrovie and Russia, as well as the Victory Banner - a copy of the relic of the canvas hoisted in May 1945 over the defeated Reichstag - the guard of honor guard carried along by parade crews and tribunes.
Addressing veterans of the Great Patriotic War, participants of the Military Parade and all Pridnestrovians, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that May 9 is a special date for several generations of Pridnestrovians. He considers Victory Day the brightest holiday.
“We are proud that our countrymen were in the ranks of those who forged the Victory in the rear, earned the Victory, fighting arms in hand on all fronts of the Great Patriotic War. 12 Pridnestrovians were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union for combat exploits. We bow our heads before the bright memory of each of the 27 million Soviet citizens who fell at the battlefields, died from starvation, tortured in concentration camps”, the President noted, calling for a minute of silence to honor the memory of the dead and deceased heroes. Participation in the procession of the "Immortal Regiment" with portraits of relatives and friends who defended their homeland from the Nazi invaders, Vadim Krasnoselsky called the honor of everyone.
“We are proud of the Victory 1945, we will always cherish the memory of the Great Patriotic War and the heroes, remaining deeply in debt to the generation of winners. The memory is important for understanding our history,” emphasized the PMR President. According to him, only brave people who love their homeland, their people, could endure the trials that fell to the lot of the participants of the Great Patriotic War. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed gratitude to the veterans for the courage and heroism shown by them during the Great Patriotic War, and the opportunity given to their descendants to live freely under a peaceful sky and work for the good of the Fatherland. The Commander-in-Chief of the Pridnestrovian Armed Forces emphasized that today's servicemen continue the glorious traditions of their heroic ancestors, and noted that Pridnestrovian and Russian military are now standing in a united formation. Vadim Krasnoselsky called the Russian Federation a reliable guarantor of peace and stability in our land.
The legendary T-34 tank passed through the square named after the founder of Tiraspol, the great commander Alexander Suvorov. The tank crew - are great-grandchildren of war veterans. Following the combat vehicle, the cadets of the Military Institute of the PMR Defense Ministry marched in the historical form of the Great Patriotic War. They have in their hands - the standards of the 13 fronts of the Second World War. The honor to open the parade was given to the young drummers-cadets, and the closing was given to the Suvorov students, who, during a joint demonstration performance with the company of the Guard of Honor, demonstrated coherence and precision of actions. The final chord sounded the song "Victory", performed by three hundred voices to the accompaniment of the combined orchestra of the Armed Forces of the PMR and OGRV. Illustration to it was the main word of today – VICTORY with the help of five hundred Tiraspol schoolchildren. A colorful action was held by pupils of the capital school №9.
Thanking the commanders of military units for their service and excellent preparation for the parade, the Commander-in-Chief of the Pridnestrovian Army armed forces, together with hundreds of compatriots went to the Memorial of Glory to lower the flowers to the Eternal Flame and the graves of the heroes who defended the Motherland at different times. On the memorial plates the names of more than a thousand reburied soldiers are carved, among them four Heroes of the Soviet Union - Colonel Aleksey Shutov, Major Vladimir Kadun, Captain Mikhail Kotlovets, Sergeant Major Linnik. They died on different fronts, but all were buried in the Pridnestrovian land. Not only the Great Patriotic War, but also the Civil War, internationalist warriors, defenders of Pridnestrovie rest with them.
Opened on February 23, 1972, the Tiraspol Glory Memorial was built nationwide: every citizen considered it his duty to contribute to preserving the memory of the feat of soldiers and officers who sacrificed their lives for peace in their native land. Today, residents of Tiraspol contribute, reviving stone plates with spring flowers and participating in the thousands Immortal regiment, which marched through the festive city, confirming the inviolability of the connection between generations, unity and strength of the spirit of the victorious people.
