Tennis players of the I-V sports classes, that is wheelchairs, competed there. The strongest ones among the disabled, who perform standing up, were identified back in March.
The head of the Tiras-Rocket club in Tiraspol, Dmitry Lavrov, performed in the first sports class, where there were 9 participants.
“This year there were more athletes than usual. And the main competitors gained a lot. It was harder to win. In the final, I lost the first two sets, but then I managed to concentrate and level the game,” Dmitry Lavrov told our correspondent.
In the final, he beat his main competitor Alexei Pavlov from Ryazan with a score of 3: 2 and won a ticket to the European Championship, which will be held in Sweden in September.
In two weeks, the Pridnestrovian para-athlete will go to Slovenia, where the best players of the world will gather. The entire first five in the first grade will arrive at the international ranking tournament in Lasko. These are athletes from Korea, Hungary and the UK. In addition, among the competitors of the Tiraspol tennis player are representatives from Argentina, Finland, France and Switzerland.
This season, Dmitry Lavrov has already brought an award from an international tournament: at the competition in Italy, he became the winner in doubles.
