Kamensky District, March, 27. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In the village of Podoyma, Kamensky District of Pridnestrovie, history is being restored bit by bit. Since last autumn, the DSoIA officer Vasily Myaskovsky and regional Veterans' Council have been restoring a three-blindage machine-gun permanent fire position located on the steep slope of the Dniester coastal zone.
During the Great Patriotic, the permanent fire position was blown up. The First Pridnestrovian TV channel reminded that its restoration began at the entrance to the underground part: the permanent fire position was re-cast from concrete, a vertical metal staircase was installed.
A real small town was discovered underground. More than 200 meters of branched corridors and 12 special rooms have been preserved. All of them were almost cleared. Land and above-ground adjacent territory improving have begun recently.
“Here, on a slope of 1000 square meters, we planted about 150 seedlings of Crimean pine-tree and Spanish oak. It is gratifying that schoolchildren are involved in this. This contributes to their patriotic education and respect for the history of the Great Patriotic War,” Vasily Myaskovsky, project coordinator for the restoration of the permanent fire position, said.
Biennial seedlings were arranged in orderly rows. Foresters say: in five years, the trees will grow up and will protect the slope from landslides with their roots.
“It is a great honor for us to participate in this action. This is a common contribution to the preservation of the history of our village. Each tree is the memory of those who did not come back from World War II. Not only we, but also the next generations will be coming here,” Tatyana Barda, a student at the Podoyma village school said.
The first phase of the restoration work is planned to be completed by the Victory Day. Soon, the construction of the above-ground machine-gun permanent fire position with three blindages will begin here. But restoring of history will continue. It is planned to create a whole historical and cultural complex here.
