Bendery, March, 2. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pancake Week 2019 starts very soon, on March 4. Every day of this hearty national holiday is unique and filled with its own special meaning.
According to the tradition, Maslenitsa starts on Monday and ends on Sunday with enchanting burning of a stuffer. The head of the Bendery Culture Department, Vyacheslav Dolgodvorov said on the air of the First Pridnestrovian TV channel that grand winter farewell and spring meeting are scheduled in Bendery. This year, a large-scale event will be held in the fortress for the first time.
“We got used to the fact that Maslenitsa events take place on Liberation Square. Now we have to re-develop the idea of the holiday itself. The fortress area is huge, and each piece must be filled with some thematic locations. Since there is no greenery yet, we need bright colors, so we will have many bright decorations” - Vyacheslav Dolgodvorov revealed the secret.
The holiday will not do without the main symbol of Maslenitsa - pancakes. The organizers promise that there will be plenty of them.
“Pancakes can be won in various competitions or tasted as part of the final culinary competition. Over a thousand pancakes have already been ordered” - Vyacheslav Dolgodvorov said.
We should remind that the farewell to Maslenitsa on March 10 will start the events scheduled for holding in Alexander Nevsky fortress park. In total, 25 different festivals are scheduled between March and November.
