Tiraspol, April 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Rules of vehicle import were simplified in Pridnestrovie. The relevant amendments to the Pridnestrovie's Customs Tariff Law developed at the presidential request and supported by the MPs came into force on April 8.
In particular, vehicle «age» restriction when importing for the purpose of free circulation (previously, there was a restriction of 15 years) was removed, duty-free import of vehicles for particular category of citizens was introduced, and also customs duty on new cars with large engine displacement was reduced, the press service of the Pridnestrovie's State Customs Committee notes.
«The customs duty immunity was introduced for the defenders of the PMR, the Afghan War veterans and the liquidators of Chernobyl disaster. This legislative initiative was prepared by the Pridnestrovie's SCC at the request of the president, then it was submitted for consideration of the Pridnestrovie's Government and as a result was approved at all levels," the department reminds.
It is noted that this privilege is provided only once and is applied when importing a vehicle for personal use and if a person falls under the listed above categories and hasn't another registered vehicle. It is forbidden to make any transactions with a car imported in the preferential order, and also to pass driving license for a car to another person during three years from the moment of import.
