Tiraspol, 4 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The presidents of Pridnestrovie and Moldova, Vadim Krasnoselsky and Igor Dodon, will agree on a single package of problematic issues requiring early resolution in relations between the two countries. These plans were revealed by Vadim Krasnoselsky during a press conference on the results of his meeting with the Moldovan leader that took place today in Bendery.
«We have come to an agreement to develop a single package of issues to be addressed. The package should be capacious and constructive," said the Pridnestrovian president, adding that it must include only those issues that could be solved in the near future.
According to Krasnoselsky, the package will be compiled within a month or two. The president noted at the same time that the sides would cooperate at the level of expert (working) groups and expressed hope that the work of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) would be unblocked — this issue, as well as other aspects related to the peacekeeping operation in the Dniester region, was also discussed at the meeting.
In addition, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the sides touched upon socio-economic problems in relations between the two countries — they discussed among other things the issue of railway communication through the PMR.
As we have informed, on 30 December Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky and Moldovan Premier Pavel Filip extended (without a personal meeting) the protocol decision «On the principles of resuming full-fledged rail freight through Pridnestrovie» to the end of 2017.
According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the PMR's stance on railway communication remains the same: goods intended for domestic consumption should be carried through the territory of the PMR by Pridnestrovian engines and cleared by the Pridnestrovian customs authorities.
The sides also discussed the problem of the Moldovan mobile network operator Orange using the frequencies employed by the Pridnestrovian company Interdnestrcom since 2012. According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the existing situation has caused interference for both providers.
Vadim Krasnoselsky underscored that the international status of Pridnestrovie had not been discussed during the meeting with his Moldovan colleague. «I am sure the people of Pridnestrovie have made their choice — the independence of the PMR with the subsequent accession to Russia, and this is our independence that guarantees our security," noted the president.
The head of state generally assessed the meeting as constructive. «I was pleased with the desire of the Moldovan president to seek compromise in relations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie. He was basically the first to make this step. It is pleasing," said Vadim Krasnoselsky.
As we have informed, the meeting that took place today in the building of Bendery's state administration has been the first meeting of Pridnestrovian and Moldovan presidents in 8 years. It was initiated by Igor Dodon. After a round of talks, the presidents also visited St Alexander Nevsky's Church on the territory of the Bendery Fortress.
