Tiraspol, 22 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Yevgeny Shevchuk held a meeting with a delegation of the Kingdom of Norway, led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Tove Bruvik Westberg. The meeting was also attended by the acting foreign minister, Vitaly Ignatyev, the president's press service.
Greeting the diplomats, the president noted that a direct exchange of opinion on pressing issues is a helpful and relevant practice. The current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova was particularly discussed in the course of the dialogue. Attention was also given to the progress in implementing the protocol signed on 2−3 June on the results of «The permanent conference…» meeting in the 5+2 format in Berlin.
The meeting also focused on the current socio-economic situation in Pridnestrovie. The president dwelt upon the problems adversely affecting the country's economy and the prosperity of its residents. As was noted, the most acute issues are restrictions on the movement of citizens and cargoes, politically motivated criminal cases initiated by Moldova against Pridnestrovian officials and businesspersons.
At the end of the meeting the sides discussed a number of other issues of mutual interest and agreed to continue maintaining direct contact in the relevant areas of cooperation.
