Dubossary, 25 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Yesterday a meeting of the Executive Board of the Project for Water Resources, Infrastructure and Cooperation Management took place in Dubossary and Criuleni to sum up the work undertaken in 2015. The meeting was held with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), German embassy to Moldova, the press service of the Dubossary State Administration reports.
GIZ experts presented the technical and economical validation of the project as well as recommendations and priorities for its implementation.
The project thus provides for the complex reconstruction of Dubossary's treatment facilities using up-to-date solutions, including the maintenance and expansion of the existing water supply and sewerage systems. Special attention, in the meantime, was given to the enhancement of the performance of water supply and sewerage operators as well as a decrease of environmental threats and risks for the Dniester river's basin.
Following the meeting, the German organisers supplied the project participants — the cities of Dubossary and Criuleni — with special vehicles: vacuum and motorised shops.
The next stage of the project presupposes the elaboration of technical documentation and attraction of investment.
It should be recalled that in 2010 Pridnestrovian specialists carried out a technical evaluation of Dubossary's sewerage which revealed its serious worn-out state. A project for sewerage reconstruction was worked out based on this evaluation, but it was not realised due to the lack of financial resources.
In 2012 Pridnestrovie requested international partners to assist in implementing this project. Germany agreed to grant technical and expert's support to the project through the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), which is experienced in realising such infrastructure projects.
