Ignatyev: implementation of joint border control plans will provoke a total blockade of Pridnestrovie's imports

In an interview with Moldovan journalists, Pridsnestrovie's minister of foreign affairs commented on the decision by Kishinev and Kiev to establish a joint control over the Ukrainian-Pridnestrovian border

Tiraspol, 4 December. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The decision to establish a joint control near the Pridnestrovian border is a unilateral step which tears apart the tissue of a negotiation paradigm, says Pridnestrovie's acting foreign minister, Vitaly Ignatyev, in an interview with the Moldavskiye Vedomosti newspaper.

«Instead of cooperating and finding a joint compromise solution to the long-standing problems, the negotiation process is falling into separate segments because of discriminatory measures taken by the negotiation participants against Pridnestrovie," said Vitaly Ignatyev.

He expressed regret that Ukraine, which is a mediator in the 5+2 format, was indulging Moldova's restriction activities in the economic sphere and in the freedom of movement area.

«The implementation of joint control plans will provoke a total blockade of all Pridnestrovian imports and a revision of all cooperation architecture in the field of economy, freedom of movement and security between Pridnestrovie, Moldova and Ukraine. Pridnestrovie will not tolerate the new imposed configuration of foreign economic activities caused by additional restrictions," underscored the minister.

Vitaliy Ignatyev noted that «the three participants of the Permanent Conference will be fully accountable for radical implications and rising tensions that may arise in every sphere of our cooperation.»

«Negotiation prospects are becoming even more vague as it is evident that Moldova and Ukraine, and in many cases the EU, do not consider it necessary to carry out consultations with Pridnestrovie even when making decisions directly affecting its interests," added the minister.
