Moldovan officials still avoid holding experts’ meetings on termination of criminal cases

The representatives of Moldova's Prosecutor's Office refuse to take part in it. Without their involvement, this meeting loses its significance, Pridnestrovie's chief negotiator underscores

Today during the meeting of Pridnestrovie's and Moldova's chief negotiators, Nina Shtanski and Victor Osipov, the parties discussed the problem of politically motivated criminal charges brought against the Pridnestrovians in Moldova.

Nina Shtanski noted Moldova is still deviating from holding a meeting of experts on the termination of criminal cases, and Moldova's negotiator, Victor Osipov, could not even present the actual list of the Pridnestrovian citizens against whom criminal charges were brought.

«We expected the Moldovan negotiator would give us the actual list of criminal cases when there is no dialogue between experts. To our disappointment and surprise, we learnt that even the vice premier could not get this list. He told us he had been denied access to this document. This was a wakeup call not only for the Pridnestrovian delegation but also for all the participants of the 5+2 talks who were present today," underscored Pridnestrovie's foreign minister.

Nina Shtanski also said that Pridnestrovie' Interior Ministry officer Maxim Kuzmichev is still under custody in Athens, and Moldova's officials assure us they are doing their best to extradite him. «It seems that the efforts of Moldova are not sufficient and in this regard to avoid such situations we have called upon the Moldovan party to remove the Pridnestrovian citizens from the international wanted list on other politically motivated charges," said the diplomat.

During today's meeting the parties also discussed the issue related to deportation of the official delegations of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which came to celebrate Pridnestrovie's 25th anniversary, and the Pridnestrovian citizens permanently residing in the republic.
