Pridnestrovie's Cossacks express concern about Moldova's unconstructive actions

During today's Council of Atamans the Cossacks expressed their indignation at the incident which took place on 10 November in Chisinau airport upon President Yevgeniy Shevchuk’s departure to Moscow

As was reported by the Novosti Pridnestrovya news agency, a group of Moldova's secret service representatives, pro-Romanian political forces and the so-called combatants took openly a series of provocative and violent actions.

"The Chisinau incident is a sheer provocation, out of the ordinary event. This incident, alongside with initiation of criminal prosecution against Pridnestrovie's authorities and numerous sanctions against Pridnestrovie, is a test for the people of our republic, our integrity," underscored the army ataman of the Black Sea Cossack Host (BSCH), Colonel Igor Nebeygolova.

In the person of the president it was the provocation against Pridnestrovie's people on the whole," noted the ataman of the Tiraspol Cossack District, Alexander Dorozhnyuk.

Igor Nebeygolova recalled that "the BSCH representatives had already expressed concern in the statement over Moldova's ill forces aggravating the situation around Pridnestrovie." The statement has been published on the official website of the Black Sea Cossack Host.

"The Cossacks of the Black Sea Cossack Host file a request with the guarantor states and participants of the negotiation process to strictly abide by all the agreements on peace preservation on the Dniester banks. We appeal to the leadership of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to take adequate measures for protecting our citizens and the president. Consideration should be given to the possibility of using Tiraspol's airfield in order to avoid such offensive and dangerous situations," says the BSCH's statement.

These and other suggestions were voiced in the course of today's Council of Atamans and will be reflected in the general Appeal of the BSCH to Pridnestrovie's people and leadership which is to be drafted in the nearest time.

"In the circumstances concerned the people of the republic has to unite and do everything possible to deter such impertinent and hypocritical provocations in future. Legal assessment should be given to the incident in Chisinau airport. We also intend to come into contact with Russia's Cossacks Union and inform them about the existing situation," concluded Igor Nebeygolova.
