Bronze of the European Rowing Junior Championship

Competitions took place in Greece and brought together athletes from 30 countries

Tiraspol, September 8. / Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The European Rowing under 23 Championships in Ioannina, Greece finished. About 500 rowers from 30 countries took part in it. Medal entries were in 22 classes. The most numerous teams were from Germany, Italy and Romania.

The national team of Moldova was presented by four rowers from Tiraspol and Bendery. Alexander Mashnik, Ivan Korshunov, Kirill Vysotsky-Shestakov, Alexander Bulat finished the third with a result of 5:57.53 min. Nearly 2 seconds our athletes conceded to the Romanian team. The convincing victory was won by the Belarusian rowers. Russians did not reach the main final.

Yulia Narivonchik showed a good result. She overcame a distance in 7:58.88 min. She has the II place in the final of B (a final 8th place, 13 participants).

Also, Tatyana Kontsevichenko (single) and Mikhail Derevyanko – Dmitry Zinchenko took part in the competitions.

A few days ago the Pridnestrovian rowers returned from the adult World Cup in Austria. In the championship, the Olympic licenses were drawn. Pridnestrovian athletes, however as well as Russians, could not win the Olympic quotas. It should be noted that our athletes were the youngest in the championship.

In the spring of the next year, two more qualifications Olympic starts will take place. Our rowers will participate in one tournament in May in Lucerne, Swiss.  Two best crews in each Olympic class will receive the permits.
