Tiraspol, July, 7. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Championship of Balkan countries among athletes under 20 years old was held in Romania and gathered over 250 participants from 15 countries.
There were 5 Pridnestrovians in the Moldavian national team - these are pupils from Tiraspol and Bendery sports schools.
The most successful trainee in the Moldavian team was a trainee of Tatyana Zabalukhina - Yana Garayeva from Bendery. She took the silver at a distance of 400 meters with barriers with a result of 1: 1:98 min. One tenth of a second Yana Garayeva gave way to Croatian representative Rahele Leschak. After 2 weeks, athletes will again compete at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku.
Denis Cherney showed the eighth result at the same distance. Tatiana Kontrebuts took the eighth place in a smooth 200 m race. Nikita Savitsky was the seventh in the triple jump with a result of 14 m 1 cm.
There are 2 medals in the asset of the Moldova national team, and both of them belong to the hurdlers. Yulia Dovganich, athlete from Chisinau, became the 100-meter bronze winner.
The Turkish team became the leader in the medal standings of Balkaniada: 28 awards, 11 of which were gold. It is followed by Romania and Serbia. Moldova is on the 10th place.
Next Sunday in Turkey, the Balkan Championship will be held in the younger age group - under 18 years old. There are 6 Pridnestrovians in the Moldavian national team. Girls from Bendery have good chances for medals in the triple jump. They are Olga Stratienko`s trainees.
