The health minister, Tatyana Skrypnik, and WHO expert Kai Blondal discussed the tuberculosis incidence in Pridnestrovie. The expert highlighted the productivity of the visit to Republican Clinical Hospital.
«This visit gave me a detailed understanding of the work. We visited both outpatient and inpatient hospital departments. I want to note that your laboratory meets the latest standards," the Healthcare Ministry press office quotes the WHO expert as saying.
In her turn, Tatyana Skrypnik informed the expert on the progress Pridnestrovian TB specialists achieved in combating tuberculosis, particularly preventing the rise of tuberculosis incidence. «Owing to the presidential medical re-equipment programme, we have purchased new photofluorographic and X-ray units, which have enhanced the quality of diagnostic analyses. All major medical facilities have the opportunity to perform qualitative tests. TB patients are supplied with 1st and 2nd lines of medications in full volume. The construction of two anti-tuberculosis facilities — an outpatient department in Rybnitsa and a new building of the TB hospital in Bendry — is currently under way.
Tatyana Skrypnik also underscored that the state-sponsored anti-tuberculosis target programme adopted in Pridnestrovie includes all WHO recommendations and expressed readiness for further cooperation.
Within the next few days, international expert Kai Blondal will hold a three-day training for Pridnestrovian phthisiatricians. «This is a long-expected and necessary training for our specialists. It is especially important for the phthisiatricians who work at hospitals," the Healthcare Ministry press office quotes Pridnestrovie's chief non-staff phthisiatrician, Nelli Obevzenko.
