On the English Language Day (it is celebrated today), the teaching and academic staff and the students of the Language and Literature Institute of the Pridnestrovie's State University (PSU) held a roundtable for the importance of English, the tendencies of language use in the different countries of the world and other aspects of linguistics, the PSU press service reports on its website.
«English is a great language. 2.5 billion people use English as an official language of their countries. Also, even more people over the world use English as their second language," the chair of the Translation Theory and Practice Department Elena Pochtar noted.
Also, the students took part in a contest where they showed their knowledge. Teams of linguists and interpreters showed high levels of teamwork and knowledge of English. As a result, the team of interpreters became the winners.
