The territory of the current capital stadium was used for sports and cultural purposes more than a century ago, according to archival documents. There was a hippodrome there - classes and horse races were held on the outskirts of Tiraspol that time, before the 1917 revolution.
The first of the available references specifically to the city stadium date back to the thirties of the last century. The sports facility bore the names of various historical figures was equipped in different ways and changed its departmental affiliation and status more than once. It is officially called the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Tiraspol" Sports Complex" and includes multi-purpose playgrounds and an ice rink in addition to the sports arena today. Reconstruction has been underway since 2023. The works in stages. New playing fields were officially commissioned on the eve of Republic Day. The President inspected it today. Vadim Krasnoselsky was greeted by the mayor, the management of the complex, representatives of construction organizations, coaches and athletes. They talked about the demand for the stadium.
According to Oleg Dovgopol, its attendance is about 500 people per day. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the infrastructure of the complex should be accessible to citizens. They discussed further reconstruction plans. Attention is focused on the central arena and stands at present. They plan in the future to put in order the building of the wrestling and boxing school located on the territory of the stadium.
