Moscow, November 6. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The granting of the Russian citizenship to the residents of Pridnestrovie is one of the main topics that the Pridnestrovian side regularly discusses in the Federation Council and the State Duma, President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselskiy told the Parliamentary Gazette.
Nowadays, about 220 thousand citizens of Russia, 100 thousand citizens of Ukraine, more than 200 thousand citizens of Moldova and other states live in Pridnestrovie. There is no person in Pridnestrovie who would not want to get Russian passport, but the obstacle is the having of Moldovan or Ukrainian passport, the President explained.
He recalled that in the 1990s, it was difficult for Pridnestrovians to obtain a Russian document, so in order to be able to travel abroad, they were forced to acquire citizenship of Moldova or Ukraine. Krasnoselskiy stressed that today in the legal field there were precedents for obtaining Russian citizenship without renouncing the passport of another country.
“We propose to extend this to the citizens of Pridnestrovie. People have a full moral right to do so and should have a legal right,” Vadim Krasnoselskiy is sure.
In addition, the topics of use of maternal capital and insurance certificate by Russian citizens living in the PMR are also regularly discussed with deputies and senators. Krasnoselskiy recalled that, according to the Russian Constitution, citizens of the country had equal rights regardless of the residence territory.
