Video Conference under the President: Discussion of Current Issues in the Republic's Cities and Districts

02 Feb., 2026, 12:12

The President held a video conference. Heads of state administrations briefed the participants on the current situation at the local level. Overall, the life-sustaining activity of cities and districts is supplied. Weather conditions significantly impacted all processes last week. Utility workers focused their efforts on eliminating the consequences. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed gratitude to utility and other service workers for their work. The President urged them to pay attention to other areas at the same time. For example, he noted that garbage collection is not being carried out efficiently everywhere. The problem of illegal dumping remains a pressing issue. The government has been instructed to establish a commission, conduct a survey across the republic this week, and take prompt action based on the findings.

It was mentioned at the meeting that schoolchildren and students returned to school today after a week of e-learning. The heads of state named schools and kindergartens where temperatures are below normal. Decisions are being made locally. Classrooms have been temporarily enlarged and additional heating has been added IN some places. A decision has been made to hold shortened classes for now in Krasnoye. However, the school in this village will need to upgrade its heating system in the future. The President noted the need to monitor the temperature in gyms.

Another issue related to schools is the lack of behavioral assessments in school reports. This was removed from the report card several years ago, but experience shows that this decision was rash. This is being discussed by both teachers and many heads of educational institutions. The President has ordered that this issue be reopened. Personal opinion of Vadim Krasnoselsky is that behavioral assessments should be included in the high school diploma – the document certifying secondary education.

The Tiraspol Suvorov Military School was mentioned at the meeting. The educational institution under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defense is celebrating its ninth anniversary today, February 2. The meeting participants discussed the power grid outages. All heads mentioned power outages in their reports. Minister of Economic Development Sergei Obolonik provided a general explanation. On Friday, widespread outages occurred in the republic's so-called steppe zone. Consumers were quickly switched to backup lines. A major system failure affected the entire southern part of the power grid, which includes Pridnestrovie, as well as Ukraine and Moldova on Saturday. "Specialists from the Unified Distribution Electric Networks State Unitary Enterprise together with the Moldovan State District Power Plant, worked effectively: they performed switching operations that allowed the station to maintain generation. Power was lost in some areas of Pridnestrovie. Power was restored to all regions of Pridnestrovie within an hour, after stabilized. The thermal power system worked as planned, performing shutdowns, and we experienced virtually no incidents due to hydraulic shock. Only in the Yunost area and on Kakhovskaya Street in Tiraspol were there two outages, but everything is fine there too. Overall, I rate the power system's performance as excellent. Because if they had responded less quickly, especially on Saturday, we could have lost power. Currently, I characterize the power system's situation as normal. The electricity, heat, and water supply systems are operating satisfactorily", reported Sergei Obolonik.

Ilona Tyuryaeva reported that, in compliance with the presidential directive, public transportation service on route No. 16 is being launched in Tiraspol, connecting the Kirovsky microdistrict with the city center in the evening. This is a pilot project for now. The required number of vehicles and schedule are yet to be determined. A final decision will be made after monitoring demand for the minibus.
