The President honored the memory of the Pridnestrovians who tragically died on the 1st of April, 1992

Today is the 32nd anniversary of the tragic events that occurred in Bendery. On the 1st of April, 1992, the Moldovan aggressors used weapons against civilians, law enforcement officers, guardsmen, and militias who stood up to defend residents of the town. The street, whose history was written in the blood of innocent people, was named after one of the fallen defenders – militia captain Grigory Echin. A memorial chapel was also built here. Commemorative events are held at the site of the tragedy every year. Top officials of the state take part in the funeral meeting.

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, addressing the residents of Bendery, employees and veterans of the internal affairs bodies of the republic, representatives of public organizations, relatives of the dead Pridnestrovians gathered at the chapel, emphasized that the terrible events of 32 years ago, an armed invasion without a declaration of war and the destruction of civilians is a terrorist act. The President said that the Pridnestrovian people again faced the threat of terrorism three decades later. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the events of 1992, 2022, 2023 and 2024 are different in form, but united by a common goal – to sow panic among Pridnestrovians by the terrorist attacks. Another common aspect is the lack of reaction and condemnation from the international community and human rights organizations. The President called not to observe, but to condemn terrorism and tell the truth about it. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the Pridnestrovian people are protected by their own armed forces and law enforcement agencies.

The President expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims, wished health to those living today, and peace to the Pridnestrovian land. He laid flowers at the stone with the names of the defenders whose lives were cut short on April 1, 1992.

The commemorative event traditional component is the solemn march of the parade squads of the Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Bendery as a sign of gratitude to colleagues who gave their lives defending their native land.
