The President awarded Artiom Deleanu and Andrey Vyalshin with medals of the Order of Merit in the Development of Sports, II degree

The sports achievements of Pridnestrovian sportsman and the conditions created in the republic for the development of physical education and sports were discussed at the presidential executive office today. The President invited the winner of the European Greco-Roman wrestling championship held this month in Bucharest, Artiom Deleanu. The champion was accompanied by coach Andrey Vyalshin and head of the State Council for Sports Vyacheslav Sokolenko.

The President congratulated the sportsman and his coach on their significant victory and presented both with medals of the Order of Merit in the Development of Sports, II degree.

Vadim Krasnoselsky asked about the path to success and future plans. Artiom Deleanu said that he has been involved in Greco-Roman wrestling since he was seven years old. He is an international master of sports. Competes in the category up to 55 kilograms. He is the leading Pridnestrovian sportsman in his direction at the moment. His victory at the European Championship is the first of this level in this sport in Pridnestrovian history. The immediate goal is the October World Championship. He says that he is focused on sports training, coaching and teaching work is a matter of the future. The President strongly recommended not to delay obtaining higher education.

Artiom Delyanu represents the Bendery school. His coach heads the Wrestling Sports School named after Badanov. Andrey Vyalshin said that the sports school is undergoing long-awaited renovations. The administrative building, offices, coaching rooms, and locker rooms have been put in order. The next thing on the agenda is the sports hall. A reconstruction project is being prepared. 180 people are engaged in Greco-Roman wrestling. Six trainers are involved. The President was told that work is being done to introduce more children to this sport. Classes for schoolchildren are held at the sites of the 13th and 18th Bendery secondary schools. The work is being carried out in collaboration with the relevant civil service and with the support of the country's leadership.
