The President recognized the work of courts of general jurisdiction based on the results of 2023 as satisfactory

The activities of courts of general jurisdiction were discussed today in the course of the extended meeting with the participation of the President. A wide range of officials and representatives of the judicial community were invited to the discussion, organized via videoconference. Chairman of the Supreme Court Adrian Penkovsky delivered a major report on the results of 2023. The position of the PMR Prosecutor's Office was outlined by the head of the department Anatoly Guretsky. The meeting participants discussed some aspects that require increased attention in detail. Specific examples from practice were discussed.

The President aimed in his speech at closer interdepartmental cooperation, which will allow many issues to be resolved in a working manner, without unnecessarily bringing them up for wide discussion. Vadim Krasnoselsky drew attention to the advisability of more active use of the practice of on-site meetings. According to the President, this approach allows saving all types of resources. The conditions for holding mobile court hearings have been created, and this opportunity should not be neglected, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized. He called for not abusing the absence of a legislative limitation on the time for consideration of cases, recommended using the right of legislative initiative more often, and highly appreciated the progress in the use of the institution of parole. The President requested detailed information on certain areas of activity of courts of general jurisdiction and gave a number of current instructions. The work at the end of 2023 was considered as satisfactory. Vadim Krasnoselsky thanked the staff for their work and reminded representatives of the judicial community that behind each of their decisions are the fates of specific people.
