Tiraspol, January 17. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Customs duties introduced by Moldova deal a blow to both enterprises and the Pridnestrovian budget. Chairman of the Parliament Alexander Korshunov said this today, opening the spring session of the Supreme Council of the PMR.
“We must react, make certain management decisions in order to support our business entities in this difficult economic situation, so that they can carry out their activities, continue their work, do not close enterprises, do not cut jobs and, as a result, the budget does not reduce its income ", - he said.
One of the first decisions will be the interpretation of what is included in the costs of importers. In addition, the Supreme Council will cancel customs preferences for farmers from Moldova renting land in the Dubossary region. All economic entities, in accordance with the Constitution, will work under the same conditions, and the budget will receive additional revenue.
At the same time, the Supreme Council predicts that due to Moldovan duties, state treasury revenues, unfortunately, will begin to decline.
“The situation is not easy. The decision of our neighbors' officials was sudden. And such decisions always have a painful impact on economic activity,” Alexander Korshunov stated.
Let us recall that from January 1 of this year, Moldova unilaterally introduced customs duties on the import and export of Pridnestrovian enterprises.
Pridnestrovie has never paid such duties before. The procedure under which they were not collected from Pridnestrovian enterprises was enshrined in the legislation of the Republic of Moldova since 1997.
According to the latest estimates of the State Customs Committee of the PMR, the annual damage from this new step by Chisinau could amount to about 16 million dollars.
