Residents of Grigoriopol celebrate the 230th anniversary of the founding of their native city. The official date of the celebration is the 25th of July. It was decided to start the celebrations on the eve – at the weekend. Various platforms are involved. Exhibitions, sightseeing tours, a concert marathon, sports events, a festival of masters of arts and crafts, a theatrical performance, and a laser show have been organized. The official part of the celebration was held at the Defenders' Square, where residents and guests of the city gathered. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky arrived to congratulate the residents of Grigoriopol. The President was accompanied by his wife.
The solemn event was opened by the raising of the state and city flags. This honorable mission was carried out by a participant in the military operations for the defense of Pridnestrovie Andrey Afanasyev and commander of the Youth Army detachment Nikolai Kalin. They laid flowers at the “Grieving Mother” monument and memorial plaques with the names of the defenders of the republic after that. 12 natives of the Grigoriopol region were killed during the fighting on the Koshnitsky and Dorotsky bridgeheads from March 1 to July 1, 1992. Tribute to memory and respect was given to the founder of Grigoriopol. The leadership of the city and the republic left a festive flower scattering near the portrait sculpture of Catherine II and a memorial sign installed on the site where the city was officially founded on July 25, 1792. The Armenian Archbishop of Argun consecrated six stones then. The first one was for the foundation of the cathedral church, the second – for the city magistrate, four stones to mark the boundaries of the future city.
The festive program continued with the awarding ceremony for the most worthy residents of Grigoriopol. The solemn event was organized in the central park - on the site of the reconstructed Green Theatre.
The artists of the Pridnestrovian State Theater in the images of historical figures recalled the history of the founding of Grigoriopol. The creative teams demonstrated the richness of the traditions of the multinational Pridnestrovian people with musical numbers. The regional head Oleg Gabuzha and the chairman of the local Council Andrey Kovtun spoke about today's day of the birthday city, its achievements and plans, emphasizing that the main wealth of the city is its inhabitants.
The PMR President addressed the residents of Grigoriopol with words of congratulations, gratitude and parting words. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the fatefulness of Catherine the Great's decision at the end of the 18th century to settle the territory along the Dniester. According to him, the Empress gave the Russians, Moldavians, Germans, Poles, Jews, Armenians who arrived here freedom and land, which means a homeland and an opportunity to develop. It was then that the formation of the original multinational Pridnestrovian people began, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized. The PMR President said that he had reviewed the photo archive the day before, which vividly illustrates the development of the city and the region. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the current stage of the transformation of Grigoriopol is the merit of local residents. On the occasion of the city anniversary, state awards were presented to the most distinguished.
The celebration of the 230th anniversary of the founding of Grigoriopol continues. The President and his wife walked along the park alleys, talked to the citizens, got acquainted with the creative works of local craftsmen. The attention of the guests of honor was attracted by the exposition prepared by the staff of the House of Culture in Karmanovo village. As director of the House of Culture Natalya Stoyan said, the exhibition presents the works of two teams - "Skillful Hands" and "Flower arrangers". Svetlana and Vadim Krasnoselsky asked about the technology of creating paintings. The authors – are the young people aged 8-16 – work on the principle of indenting an image, which gives it volume and thus enlivens. Members of the "Skillful Hands" exemplary team began to master this technology five years ago. There are about three hundred such works in the depository now. The President emphasized that children's works deserve a special exhibition.
