Tiraspol, January 18. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. At the initiative of the Pridnestrovian side, the Ukrainian authorities allowed the transit of vehicles with PMR license plates through the territory of Ukraine for the period from January 24 to February 24. In addition, as the press service of the PMR Foreign Ministry reported, the export of such vehicles from Ukraine to Pridnestrovie is allowed for the period from January 24 to April 1.
As follows from the documents obtained by the media, we are only talking about the movement of vehicles from other countries to Pridnestrovie and Moldova. Entry of cars with Pridnestrovian license plates from Pridnestrovie to Ukraine is still prohibited. Apart from that, the exit of such vehicles from Ukraine to countries other than Pridnestrovie and Moldova is still prohibited.
Recall that in September 2021, the Ukrainian authorities banned cars with Pridnestrovian license plates from crossing the border at the suggestion of the Moldovan authorities. To enter the territory of a neighboring state, a so-called neutral license plate is required, which can be obtained at the vehicle registration point in Tiraspol or Rybnitsa. At the same time, the availability of a Pridnestrovian license plate is mandatory. At the end of last year, law enforcement agencies of Moldova detained a shipment of neutral and Pridnestrovian license plates, which led to a halt in the work of vehicle registration points (VRPs). Attempts to return the confiscated cargo have not yet been successful.
VRP in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa were established after the signing on April 24, 2018, of the Protocol decision on the participation of vehicles from Pridnestrovie that do not carry out commercial activities in international road traffic. In VRP, private car owners can get neutral license plates, without which today it is impossible to travel not only to the EU countries but also to Ukraine.
