Supreme Soviet deputies met with Belarusian social activists

During three days, the guests visited enterprises, which products are known far beyond PMR, they also visited the Society for Belarusian Culture

Tiraspol, December 3. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovian parliamentarians Mikhail Burla, Oleg Vasilatiy and Alexander Korshunov held a meeting with delegation of Belarus Republic community representatives led by Maxim Krupeychenko, the press service of the Supreme Council reports. The guests shared their observations about the Single Voting Day held in the PMR on November 29.

“I was really pleased by what I’d seen. This primarily applies to security measures at polling stations ranging from gloves and masks to air recirculation. Then we went to Rybnitsa polling stations. Our observation ended with a vote count. We were interested in how that procedure was going on with you. We drove into the nearest village we came across along the road. Based on the observation that we implemented at polling station No. 122 in the village of Gidirim, Rybnitsa Region, I can say that elections are being held publicly and honestly. Each ballot was shown on camera. I did not see any violations during votes counting,” the Belarusian observer noted.

Pridnestrovian parliamentarians thanked the representatives of Belarus Republic for their attention to our republic and the opportunity to come to Pridnestrovie during the period of quarantine restrictions. Alexander Korshunov emphasized: it is important that the guests became interested in the PMR economic potential. They also visited the Moldavian Metallurgical Plant (MMP) in Rybnitsa.

“Economic relations are also important. The economy is primordial, so we, as representatives of the business community, went to the MMP yesterday. We looked at the production. It does work, despite the day off, and quite successfully. There is a similar enterprise in our republic. We will establish economic cooperation,” Maxim Krupeychenko said.

Within three days, representatives of the Belarusian community Maxim Krupeychenko and Alexander Shidlovsky visited other export-oriented enterprises, which products are known far beyond the Pridnestrovian region.

Maxim Krupeychenko and Alexander Shidlovsky were told about how Belarusian compatriots live in Pridnestrovie at the Society for Belarusian Culture.

“I would like to talk to the natives of Belarus living in Pridnestrovie. According to my information, there are 10 thousand of them. Before arriving here, we learned that the Bank of Pridnestrovie has issued Brest Hero-Fortress and Hero-City Minsk coins on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory. That is, we have a history together and basis, which cooperation can be built on,” the Head of the Delegation of Belarusian public activists said.

There are about 10 thousand Belarusians by nationality and about 1000 citizens of the Republic of Belarus in Pridnestrovie. The Consul of Belarus comes from Chisinau every month and receives citizens, while all issues are resolved onsite - in Tiraspol.

There are branches of the Society for Belarusian Culture in several cities of Pridnestrovie. Due to quarantine and ban on meetings, the guests were not able to meet with the Belarusian community. But having visited the capital's Society for Belarusian Culture, they stated that paraphernalia, maps and posters, books and, most importantly, people were close in spirit, just like at home.
