Mineral water, radon baths and physiotherapy. About what Dnestr sanatorium is famous for

This year, works to extend health resort has been slowed down due to COVID-19 pandemic

Kamenka, July 21. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Dnestr sanatorium complex is a multidisciplinary health resort. Here patients are being treated for diseases of the cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal system, nervous system, digestive organs, lungs and skin. Kamenka resort traditions go back to the 19th century - even then, people from all over Russia came here for grape and kumis treatments. Actually, we have already told the story of the health resort. Its director Ivan Bystrov will tell about how the sanatorium is doing today.

Dnestr is famous for its combination of medical factors and climatic conditions. There are carbon dioxide, oxygen, hydrosulfide, and gas-bubble curative baths in the health resort. There are all types of therapeutic massage, manual therapy, and various medical treatment rooms.

There is its own drinking pump room, where cold and warm mineral medicinal water is dispensed from a local well. This water regains stomach secretory function, motor function, and promotes healing of ulcers.

In 2014, there was introduced a new method of treatment in the sanatorium - radonotherapy. For this, there was drilled a new artesian well, and a natural inert gas, radon, was found at a depth of 175 meters. Radon baths boost the immunity, diminish allergic background.

Radonotherapy is in great demand among vacationers. In 2017, the health resort was visited by 5 897 people, while in the next year there were already 8 473 guests. There has been no such attendance since the end of the 80s. Therefore, the sanatorium administration decided to expand the scope of services.

“Now there are only 8 baths for 450 people. The bandwidth is small. Only 240 people can use the service every day. We decided to expand the hydropathic and construct a new building. We plan to increase the number of baths to 24. Plus, there will appear additional treatment rooms,” Ivan Bystrov said.

The source of funding was the funds of the sanatorium, saved due to the reduction of the state income tax rate.

However, COVID-19 made adjustments to the management plans. In a context of widespread quarantine, the institution did not have guests. Accordingly, the pace of work on the new building construction slowed down.

Dnestr sanatorium plans to resume its work on July 28. The medical and treatment-and-prophylactic services will only be provided to Pridnestrovians in compliance with all quarantine measures. Staff and guests will be required to wear masks. Disinfection and ventilation of the premises are mandatory. It is also necessary to maintain social distance. Only one person is allowed to be put in the same room, only one visitor is allowed to sit at the same table in the dining room.
