Boxer from Tiraspol Andrey Kiryakov won the Moldova championship

Winners will take part in qualifying Olympic tournaments

Tiraspol, December 24. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Moldavian boxing male championship was first held in the new Olympic weight categories. Their number decreased from 10 to 8 among males. Due to this, women have more Olympic weight categories. There are 5 of them.

According to the results of the Moldavian championship, the Tiraspol team took the third place in the total number of medals. There are one gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze ones. Boxers from Grimankauci and Chisinau are in the lead.

Andrey Kiryakov from Tiraspol (weight category up to 81 kg, 8 participants) played the entire tournament, the judges had no doubts about his victory - he is a champion. In the final, his rival was the experienced Dmitry Koschug from Grimankauci. The fight ended with a score of 4: 1. Andrey Kiryakov`s trainer is Anatoly Dovgopol.

The weight category up to 57 kg (5 participants) was almost completely Pridnestrovian: there were one Dubossary and three Tiraspol residents. The winner was Dorin Buksha from Hincheshty. Victor Vakula became the silver medalist. Dmitry Sukhodolsky and Alexander Usatenko won the bronze.

The previous winner of the Moldavia championship in the weight category up to 49 kg Stanislav Bondarenko fought in the category up to 52 kg (3 participants). He lost to the representative of the Balti school and became a bronze medalist.

Based on the results of the championship, there will be formed a national team to prepare and participate in the European Qualification Tournament. It will be held in London in mid-March. Another qualifying tournament, already global, will be held in Paris in mid-May. Tiraspol player Yulia Korol (trained by Anatoly Dovgopol) will take part in the qualifying tournaments. The Moldavia female championship will not be held due to the lack of competition.
