The Russian Permanent Representative to the OSCE hopes that Moldova wouldn`t unravel the negotiation results

Alexander Lukashevich spoke in favor of improving the mechanism for implementation the agreements, which would protect the agreements between Chisinau and Tiraspol from the domestic political situation

Tiraspol, October 19. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The dynamics in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova are dying away: most of the practical agreements agreed on in 2016-2017 on social and humanitarian issues from the Berlin + package remained unfulfilled. This was stated at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council by Russia's Permanent Representative to the organization Alexander Lukashevich.

“In the future, it is important not to deviate from the 2012 document on the principles and procedures for negotiating within the framework of the“ Permanent Meeting ”, which provides for such meetings to be held at least 6 times a year without reference to certain preliminary practical decisions,” Alexander Lukashevich said.

He also expressed hope that the policy of the new authorities in Moldova would not unravel the positive developments of the past three years.

“Fulfillment of the task set in 2016 to improve the mechanism for implementing achievements in the 5 + 2 format in national legislation would allow to protect the agreement between Chisinau and Tiraspol from the domestic political situation. The ball is now on the side of Moldova,” the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the OSCE said.

Alexander Lukashevich called on the parties to the negotiations to avoid the temptation of unilateral pressure and focus on a constructive dialogue, taking into account each other's interests.

The recent round of negotiations in the 5 + 2 format (PMR and RM being parties; the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the OSCE being mediators, the EU and the USA being observers), held in Bratislava on October 9-10, did not end with the signing of the final protocol. The participants decided to “suspend the clocks” of the Bratislava meeting and continue consultations. As the head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Klaus Neukirch noted, the parties had decided to take a break due to a number of disagreements in the preparation of the draft final document.

The Pridnestrovian side agreed to sign the protocol proposed by the OSCE with those wordings that were compromise in nature, but negotiations had been suspended due to Chisinau’s position.

Lukashevich stressed that the OSCE expected that the intensification of the negotiation process at all levels would finally agree on the protocol of the Bratislava meeting.
