PMR WIN AT ORIENTEERING TOURNAMENT

For the first time in history, the pridnestrovians became the winners of the rank competitions

Tiraspol, June 3. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Team championship of Romania at a long and average distance, the championship of Romania in the sprint and Carpathian O-Trophy WRE were held in Komarnik. The Carpathian O-Trophy WRE included runnings at a long and average distance in the Elite group. It was World Ranking Event. 

Forest distances were difficult even for Masters of Sports. High hills, stony rocks, difficult landslide microreliefs demanded good physical and technical training. 

The Pridnestrovian sportsmen as a part of Moldova national team became prize-winners of the Carpathian O-Trophy WRE. Especially successfully they acted at a long distance. All the prize-winning pedestal was occupied by brothers Anatoly, Ivan and Vasily Fomichev.  

Anatoly Fomichev finished with the best result – 1 hour, 10 minutes and 55 seconds at 10 km distance. Besides, Ivan Fomichev won gold at an average distance and bronze in the sprint. 

For the first time in Pridnestrovian orienteering history our athletes became the winners of the rank competitions at a long distance. Earlier members of the national team were winners of the rank competitions only in the sprint and at an average distance. For Fomichev brothers the Competitions in Romania were the last preparatory starts to the World Cup. 

On June 8-11 in Helsinki (Finland) there will take place the I World Cup stage. Galina Rybedyuk also will join the team. All athletes are pupils of the SC «Tiras-Orient». Rybedyuk has the highest world ranking among the members of the Moldavian national team.
