Tiraspol, February, 28. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Last week, the first stage of the Russian Cup in athletics in throwing disciplines was held in Sochi. Pridnestrovians were among the winners, according to the website of the PMR State Service for Sports.
Winning places were taken by Dmitry Tarabin and Nikolai Orlov, trainees of the Tiraspol Sports School No. 2 named after V.B. Dolgin.
In the older age group among men, master of sports Dmitry Tarabin showed a final result of 76 meters 94 centimeters, which allowed him to take the second place. At the same time, the gap from the first position was almost 8 meters.
In the U-23 youth competition, master of sports Nikolai Orlov won the silver medal. He threw a spear at 75 meters and 76 centimeters, setting a new personal record and improving the previous figure by almost one and a half meters.
Note that the winner of the competition, Boris Bezdolny, showed a result 52 centimeters further, also setting his own personal record.
Both young Pridnestrovian athletes were selected for the European Youth Championship, which will be held in the Swedish city of Gavle in July.
