Moldova has been criticized in European Parliament

Deputies consider that the country "has never been in such a bad situation in recent years"

Today the European Parliament has adopted the resolution in which it has demanded from European Commission to suspend allocation of macrofinancial aid to Moldova. Deputies have discussed the situation in the republic, which has developed after the court recognized results of elections of the Chisinau mayor as invalid which the chairman of the party "The platform advantage and truth" Andrey Nestase has won.

The European parliamentarians recognized that the events in Moldova are far from democracy and European values. At the same time, not all have agreed that it is an occasion to stop macrofinancial aid to the country, reports "NewsMaker".

The High Representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini has noted that the EU considers that Moldova has executed only economic, but not political conditions.

Speaking about the decision to suspend macrofinancial aid, Mogherini has noted that in Moldova there are a lot of problems: "lack of independence of justice, weak investigation of one billion theft, controlled media".

"Citizens wait for effective reforms all these years, and they have to receive them. Chisinau inhabitants have shown the discontent at demonstrations, and their right to protest is necessary to be protected, they have to be in safety on protest actions" — Mogherini has told.

The eurodeputy Rebecca Kharms has urged the authorities of Moldova to protect and provide the right of citizens for a peaceful protest.

"These protests are proved. Occurred in Chisinau facts have shocked us. I suggest holding repeated elections as soon as possible. I will agree with colleagues who suggest to suspend the help, we have to look how parliamentary elections, which are to take place in the autumn, will conform standards of democracy" — Kharms told.

The representative of national Europeans group in EP Siegfried Mureshan considers that the decision not to recognize results of elections of the Chisinau mayor has destroyed everything that has been made in Moldova, and now the country has appeared near Burundi and Somalia.

"The decision not to allocate macrofinancial aid to Moldova says that trust to the Chisinau authorities is zero. They prevent the European Union to help citizens of Moldova. It is very critical resolution, Moldova has never been in such a bad situation in recent years ", - Mureshan has told.

The eurodeputy Andi Kristya representing group of progressive social democrats has said that non-recognition of elections is a reason for serious concern, and the EU has to think strategically and work rationally.

"It is wrong to stop the help, the same as it was wrong not to recognize results of elections in Chisinau. It will be a mistake which can cause others" — he has told, having summed up speeches of deputies.

Following the results of discussions the European Parliament has voted for the general resolution in which it has demanded, "the European Commission to frozen allocation of the budgetary help to Moldova, using a precedent of July, 2015 when financing has been suspended after bank crisis". It is noted in the document that the mechanism of freezing of the help needs to be used as reaction to non-recognition of elections results of the Chisinau mayor.
