Tiraspol, 9 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. According to law enforcers, about 9,000 people have joined Immortal Regiment in Tiraspol this year. The procession began at 11:00 am.
Residents and guests of the city with portraits of veterans will pass from the fountain near Tiraspol Cinema to the military installation of the OGRF.
The parade units will also take part in the march and perform the song Victory Day to the accompaniment of an orchestra. All the participants are expected to support the military by singing the traditional Victory Day song together with them.
The Immortal Regiment movement started in the Russian city of Tomsk in 2012. On 9 May, patriotical residents marched along the streets with portraits of their relatives who had participated in the Great Patriotic War. Thus, they demonstrated that the memory of war heroes was still alive after many years.
About 2,000 people took part in the first march of the "Immortal Regiment". The following year the action was held all over Russia. Now the people's movement covers more than 80 states and regions.
In Pridnestrovie, the first patriotic march was organised in Bendery. And in 2015, when the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory was celebrated, all the cities of Pridnestrovie took part in the patriotic action. The number of participants grows each year. In 2017, tens of thousands of citizens throughout the country took part in the march.
One million people are expected to take part in Moscow's Immortal Regiment this year.
