Vladimir Khomeriki: no one will dare to solve Pridnestrovian issue by force

A well-known political and social figure expressed confidence that Russia would be more active in supporting the processes taking place in Pridnestrovie and that through joint efforts the difficult economic and political situation would be resolved

Tiraspol, 16 October. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The situation around Pridnestrovie is difficult enough, which is largely due to negative influence exerted by the Ukrainian events over the past three years.  Besides, Moldova has increased its claims for Pridnestrovie's independence, but no one will dare to solve the Pridnestrovian issue by force. This is what well-known political and social figure Vladimir Khomeriki said in an interview with Novosti Pridnestrovya.

"No one will use force against Pridnestrovie. There are more than 200,000 citizens of Russia here, which, of course, will defend its citizens and compatriots. Ho one will dare to say a word against Russia because it is known what such attempts may result in, as was, for example, in Georgia. It has lost two regions: Abkhazia and South Ossetia.  As well as in other cases," underscored Khomeriki.

This, however, does not stop the Moldovan authorities. In an effort to subdue Pridnestrovie, the pro-European parliament and government has reinforced their anti-Russian rhetoric and advocated the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from the PMR.  Kishinev even requested the UN General Assembly to consider this issue, which caused an immediate response by Russia's MFA, calling this initiative a provocation.

According to Khomeriki, such a confrontation between Pridnestrovie and Moldova cannot last long. Besides, "there must be a certain conclusion in Ukraine."

"I'm sure Pridnestrovie will have a good future. Sooner or later, everyone agrees with each other. Of course, we have to proceed from the principles and desires of the Pridnestrovian people. Given that Pridnestrovie has found itself in such an enclave, without common borders with Russia, it is very difficult to pursue greater economic, investment and other policies here.  Nevertheless, I'd like to note that the PMR is getting stronger, without losing optimism, and is committed to its positions, its views and wishes of its people," said the Russian expert.

Khomeriki expressed confidence that Russia would be more active in supporting the processes taking place in Pridnestrovie and that through joint efforts the difficult economic and political situation would be resolved.

"The country's leadership is taking various measures to improve the welfare to the people by reducing taxes, introducing various benefits, trying to develop business and making preferences for exports, which is very important. I think this path is correct, and it should have further adhered. Of course, together with Russia," concluded the expert.
