Vitaly Ignatyev meets OSCE chairman's special representative Wolf Dietrich Heim

The Pridnestrovian diplomat drew attention of his colleague that over nine months of the Austrian chairmanship there had been no "5+2" format meetings

Tiraspol, 7 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Pridnestrovian foreign minister, Vitaly Ignatyev, is holding a meeting with an OSCE delegation, led by the special representative of the chairman-in-office, Wolf Dietrich Heim. It is the fifth visit of the Austrian diplomat to Pridnestrovie.

Vitaly Ignatyev expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the current chairmanship but noted with regret that the situation in the negotiations was far from being normalised. Progress in discussing the current issues is very low; there is even regress. Moldova's unilateral restrictions are critically deteriorating for dialogue.

The Pridnestrovian diplomat noted that over nine months of the Austrian chairmanship there had been no «5+2» meetings.

«Perhaps three of four meetings could lead to more practical results," noted Ignatyev.

The situation with expert (working) groups also worries the Pridnestrovian side.

The minister recalled that the political representatives of Moldova and Pridnrstrovie held a meeting on 23 August, during which they agreed to give a new impetus to the work of those groups.

«Yesterday a meeting on road transport was held. Several groups have not met yet, although the Moldovan colleagues promised to send invitations. Unfortunately, I don't see any changes for the better. The only promise Mr Balan seems to be ready to keep is going on vacation in mid-September," noted Ignatyev.

Ignatyev expressed the hope that the personal involvement of the special representative could give a positive impetus to the dialogue between Moldova and Pridnestrovie.

«I agree that technical solutions in many areas are nearing completion and require political will to be implemented. We'd be happy to consider all the issues in more detail, especially those where you feel that you can show the maximum flexibility," said Wolf Dietrich Heim.
