Vadim Krasnoselsky meets Russian MP Artem Turov

They discussed the level of interaction between the Russian legislators and their Pridnestrovian voters

Tiraspol, 29 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Russia' s State Duma member Artem Turov, representing Pridnestrovie, was one of the few Russian guests who managed to come the country for celebrations dedicated to 25th anniversary of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester banks. At the end of official events, Artem Turov talked to Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky, the president's press service reported.

Greeting the guest, the president stressed the value of a relationship based on mutual support, not only in difficult situations but also in moments of joy. Vadim Krasnoselsky thanked him for his attention to Pridnestrovie and participation in the public celebrations but regretted the absence of many other Russian guests.

The meeting of Krasnoselsky and Turov was working. They talked about the level of interaction between the Russian legislators and their Pridnestrovian voters. According to the president, «Pridnestrovians are vividly interested in everything that has to do with Russia and cherish the opportunity of communicating with State Duma members.»

Artem Turov informed the president about a careful attitude to the mandate of voters, saying that «60% of appeals are solved positively.»

«We believe the current form of interaction is rather efficient. The main task is to implement the mandates of the voters. There are over 200,000 of our fellow citizens in Pridnestrovie. It is therefore very important for us to keep abreast of the developments taking place here in the economic sphere, in the social area. We will continue this work while we are in contact with our voters and officials. It is important for us to respond to existing challenges, to assist in the areas where our voters expect it," underscored Turov.

The Russian MP explained that the issues raised by Pridnestrovians mostly concerned the social sphere, as well as the acquisition of Russian citizenship.

«One of the acutest problem before Pridnestrovians who were born after 1992 is the impossibility of obtaining Russian citizenship. Many of them are deprived of such a possibility and are forced to obtain citizenship of other countries, which leads to new problems," said Vadim Krasnoselsky.

Artem Turov said that work on the new amendments was continuing. They had already been discussed in State Duma committees. The issue had also been on the agenda of one of the last plenary meetings in this parliamentary season. This included the provision of documents relating to the waiver of the citizenship of other states.

«Many countries do not provide a document confirming citizenship renouncement. But we have already settled this issue. Besides, many committees back the rule according to which children, regardless of their place of residence, may acquire Russian citizenship by the decision of one of the parents," Turov told the president, adding that his colleagues expected the draft laws would be finalised during the current year. «Unfortunately, they [laws on citizenship and compatriots] contradict each other in a number of positions. The task is that they complement each other and work positively," noted the Russian MP

Vadim Krasnoselsky underscored that both laws were very important and are long awaited by Pridnestrovians.
