Tiraspol, 29 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Supreme Council's committee on foreign policy and international relations has discussed today a draft law on «Legal, institutional and political framework for negotiations with the Republic of Moldova». The bill, which was drafted by a group of authors, has already passed its first reading.

The document sets out the objectives, principles and procedures of the negotiating process between the PMR and Moldova and reflects the current state of relations between the countries.

According to the Supreme Council's press service, the committee has also considered the amendments to the bill submitted by legislators and NGOs. In general, the bill is ready to pass its second reading.

NGO members have repeatedly requested the Supreme Council to hold parliamentary hearings on the matter. They will be soon organised by the parliament’s foreign policy committee. It should be noted the amendments that have already been submitted to the committee will be taken into account by MPs while considering the bill on second reading scheduled for the near future.

«In expressing the wishes of their voters, legislators express concern about what is going on our borders, the restrictions imposed on our exports and imports, including food products, by neighbouring countries. Supreme Council members and representatives of other public authorities cannot remain indifferent to this situation. This is why potential countermeasures are being discussed at the meetings of the relevant committee with the involvement of officials from the SCC, MFA and the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources," said vice speaker Galina Antyufeyeva.

According to her, in particular, MPs have heard today the operational information presented by the SCC's official representative, foreign and agriculture ministers.

«The possible measures that should be taken, including at the parliament's level, have also been discussed. All this worries us. Nevertheless, we expect that the cooperation agreements we previously reached with our neighbours will be abided by in the future. It is important to resume the negotiation process in the «5+2» format in this context. All contentious issues can be resolved on this venue," concluded Antyufeyeva.
