President informed about Victory Day preparations

Tiraspol, 3 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The president held a meeting on the elaboration of a schedule of 9 May festive events. Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled the significance of the Great Victory in world history and emphasised the increased attention given to that date in Pridnestrovie, the president's press service reports.

The head of the presidential administration reported about the events scheduled to mark the 72nd anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War. He said that the celebration would start on 6 May with the traditional meeting of war veterans, commonly known as Dugout, in the square of the Tiraspol Joint Museum at 10:00. On the same day, the Palace of Republic would host a festive concert, which takes place at 15:00.

The ceremony of hoisting the Banner of Victory will start the official celebration on 9 May. The banner will be raised by war veterans and officers of the Honour Guard Company. The military parade dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of the PMR from the German-Romanian invaders will start at 10:00. After it, Pridnestrovians will be able to lay flowers on the tombs of the Soviet soldiers buried in the capital's Glory Memorial and take part in the Immortal Regiment march. Participants will parade with portraits of their relatives from Suvorov Square to the OGRF's military camp. Here they will see another portion of festive events, including a flower-laying ceremony, a liturgy, a battle enactment, a military hardware exhibition, and one more Dugout meeting.

Special attention will be paid to veterans in the holiday period. The president emphasised the need to create the best possible conditions for the people who defended their homeland seven decades ago so that despite age and health status each veteran could take part in the events in which they will be both the main actors and honoured guests.
