Patriarch Kirill calls preserving peace in Pridnestrovie church's priority

A meeting between Vadim Krasnoselsky and the head of the Russian Orthodox Church is taking place in Moscow

Tiraspol, 28 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Vadim Krasnoselsky has hold a meeting today with Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill, who underscored that preserving peace in our country is a priority for the Russian Orthodox Church.

«The church has always prayed, has always been concerned that peace should be preserved, that there should be no threat of war or any violence; this is an important priority," Interfax quotes him as saying.

The patriarch assured the president that «the peacekeeping stance of the Russian Orthodox Church, its concern for spiritual life in Pridnestrovie will remain at a high level».

«In the person of our church, you can see a force, in the positive sense of the word, that will help to resolve the existing problems in Pridnestrovian society, including in the field of church and state relations," said the patriarch.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining peace with neighbours: «Especially good relations with the Russian Federation is a very important factor for peace in the region and therefore calm in the lives of people.»

Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that Pridnestrovie is part of the Russian world — our friends and enemies are certainly aware of it — and shares its values, traditions and the Orthodox faith.
