Tiraspol, 25 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The government made a presentation of a section of the budget and tax policy concept on the topic «Social assistance and pension system: analysis and reforms». The meeting was attended by government members, MPs, representatives of the Audit Chamber.
The document was presented by the minister of social security and labour, Yelena Kulichenko. When working on the concept, the experience of the Russian Federation and other CIS countries was studied, the government's press service reports.
In her report Yelena Kulichenko focused on the country's demographic indicators. According to her, today's population is about 470,600 people, 126,000 of whom are pensioners.
The minister recalled that the country's pension system is distributional.
«It is based on the principle of inter-generational solidarity. The replenishment of the social security fund's budget depends on the number of employed citizens. The single social tax forms the budget of this fund," said Yelena Kulichenko.
According to her, the ratio of pensioners to the employed population is one to one. The issue of employment of the population, in particularly of young people, as well as the creation of new jobs, is currently being raised by ministries and agencies.
«The most important task is to ensure the payment of pensions steadily and on time," said the minister.
During the discussion, the participants expressed their remarks and proposals on the concept.
