Tiraspol, 7 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovie is totally against withdrawal of the Russian troops from the republic. President Yevgeny Shevchuk has told it in the interview to TASS commenting on the media reports that Moldova and Ukraine are to prepare a joint plan for withdrawal of Russian troops and arms from Pridnestrovie before the end of the year.

«The Russian group of forces which plays a key role in the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester represents a unique example of peacemaking recognized by many experts in the world. This operation is a guarantee of peace and stability in Pridnestrovie," Yevgeny Shevchuk has told and has noted that the people of the republic appreciate this contribution.

«The Russian troops stopped bloodshed on the banks of the Dniester in 1992 when more than one thousand people were killed, tens of thousands were wounded and became refugees. We consider that as long as there's no final political decision on settlement of the conflict, there's is no point in withdrawal of the Russian group of troops because it will aggravate the situation and can lead to bloodshed recurrence," the President has told.

He hasn't agreed with appeals of a number of Moldovan politicians suggesting to replace the Russian peacekeepers with civil observers, «to defreeze» the conflict and even to involve NATO in this settlement.

Yevgeny Shevchuk has reminded that Pridnestrovie already has the experience of carrying out a mission of civil observers on the Dniester banks.

«Such initiative had been implemented in 1992, but after that the members of this mission left the city of Bendery in a couple of hours prior to the first firefight. Many documents coordinated within the negotiation process mean synchronization of the withdrawal of peacekeepers from the conflict zone with the final peaceful and comprehensive settlement — that is the obligations of Moldova. We consider the next spike in the anti-peacekeeping rhetoric inadmissible and unconstructive," the head of state has emphasized.
