JCC continues work on draft decisions on most sensitive issues

Bendery, 22 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today the governing body of the peacekeeping operation held a regular meeting in Bendery. Meeting participants confirmed the appointment of a new OSCE Mission representative to the Joint Control Commission (JCC).

They also exchanged views on a number of problems, including unsanctioned flights in the Security Zone and freedom of movement.

As noted by Pridnestrovie's co-chair to the JCC, Oleg Belyakov, common ground has been found today on the problem of flights.

«We have found common ground today on the issue of flights in the Security Zone. This is a relevant issue and we'd like to bring it to its logical conclusion before making a decision. We see that even the Moldovan side has considerably changed its opinion on this problem. This is certain progress," said the co-chair.

The meeting also raised the issue of the OSCE's activities within the framework of its cooperation with the JCC.

«The Pridnestrovian side agrees to discuss this problem but as a separate issue which would affect every aspect of cooperation between the mission and the JCC in the Security Zone," noted Belyakov.

The parties have taken a one-week time-out for consultation and a more detailed discussion of a draft decision on free movement in the Security Zone.
